FAQ: Destination R Cancellation

Important information. Destination R | 25-26 March 2020

Following government announcements on social distancing, and in light of all recent developments with the current situation of COVID-19, it is with deep sadness that Revo and Retail Destination have been forced to make the reluctant decision to cancel Destination R for 2020. This is not a decision we have taken lightly.

We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment, to our exhibitors, attendees and the Revo ACE award entrants. Our concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our exhibitors and attendees, and we have been thankful for the support and loyalty you have shown us.

This document intends to advise the attendees of the changes to the event and the answers to inevitable questions regarding bookings, accommodation and the ACE awards.

Event for 2020

We have been in constant dialogue with the Hilton Birmingham Metropole to try and come to an agreement which would allow us to host the event later this year, but sadly availability is incredibly limited and we currently cannot find an appropriate alternative time to hold this that would allow us to deliver the event we all expect. Therefore it is highly unlikely that we will be running Destination R this year.

However, Revo and Retail Destination remain absolutely committed to our industry, and will regroup to consider options for an alternative event in the autumn to bring you together, to learn, network, do business and celebrate our ACE Award winners!

We will keep you informed as this progresses.

Revo ACE award winners

We are looking forward to celebrating and rewarding our fantastic ACE Awards winners. As you can imagine, we are keen to do this in the way that our wonderful schemes and people deserve. We are currently scoping all options to be able to do this later this year, and will of course keep you updated as plans progress. We appreciate your patience with this, and the fact you need to hang on a little while longer to find out the winners!

Attendee bookings

In terms of the financial impact, this will clearly take some time to play out. But please be assured we are doing everything in our power to protect our attendees from any financial loss.

As you can imagine we are receiving many queries regarding this, and we will absolutely update you as soon as the position is clear.

We appreciate your patience with this.

Hilton Metropole Birmingham accommodation bookings

If you booked accommodation through the dedicated Destination R hotel booking link we will be in contact with you advising of next steps as soon as possible. You may have received an email from the Hilton this morning, advising your accommodation booking has been cancelled. Apologies that this was received before our notice to you, the hotel should not have sent that out until advised by us.

If your accommodation booking was made directly with the hotel or through a travel agent, please contact them directly for your options.

It is with regret that Revo and Retail Destination are unable to offer any remuneration for expenses already incurred, including travel.

Advice

We continue to stay in contact with government officials on this matter, and advise that you all continue to reference official channels below for advice:

We want to thank our industry for the support that has been shown to us and we are here to support our industry as we all work through these difficult times. And as such would also point you in the direction of the Revo website which contains information Revo have been providing to their members, which I hope you will useful during these times.

We look forward to welcoming you at an event in the future!

Please do contact us if you have any questions.
