Jubilee Square blossoms

Jubilee Square at Victoria Place, Woking has been transformed into a relaxing garden with a giant lawn and blossoming flowers, which will be in situ until September 4.  Visitors are invited to pull up a Union Jack deckchair and sit back to watch the summer sporting action. Next week will see the start of Wimbledon, which will be broadcast live on the big screen until  July 10. The Commonwealth Games will then be shown live from Birmingham from July 28 to August 8.

There will also be free screenings of CBeebies favourites and popular family movies throughout the summer. Plus, there is a host of free family fun activities to enjoy including table tennis and giant chess and draughts.

John-Paul Jackson, centre manager, Victoria Place, says: “We’re really excited that ‘Summer in the Square’ has returned this year and we are looking forward to the start of Wimbledon. It is lovely to see so many people using the area to relax and enjoy the summer games. This is such as special year for Woking with a host of great new shops, leisure and restaurant brands – many of them unique to the town. We hope people take the opportunity to visit and experience the exciting new heart of the town.”
