St James Quarter has announced that schuh, the Edinburgh-founded footwear retailer, is to launch its Scottish flagship at the destination. Opening on Level 1 of the Galleria, the brand will add further diversity to the Quarter’s broad mix of tenants, reinforcing its position as Edinburgh’s prime pitch and taking Level 1 to 100% let, also following a 9% boost to retail sales year-on-year in 2024.

Schuh’s St James Quarter store will open in May in a 5,500sq ft space adjacent to the other high street names on Level 1, including Superdrug, Boots and Moss.

The new store will be unveiled in collaboration with sportswear brand ASICS, offering an immersive, wellness-inspired retail experience rooted in ASICS ‘Sound Mind, Sound Body’ philosophy.

Chris Pyne, leasing director for St James Quarter, commented: “Schuh is a great addition to St James Quarter, adding even more choice to our comprehensive retail offer that is now Scotland’s go-to location for leading UK and international brands. For a brand with depth in Scotland to choose the Quarter for its launch of a brand-new concept store underlines the confidence retailers have in St James Quarter as the number one retail destination in Scotland.”

The signing of schuh follows the recent opening of POLO Ralph Lauren on the Quarter’s level three, with the internationally renowned brand adding to the destination’s range of premium retailers.

P-THREE and Culverwell represent St James Quarter. CBRE represented schuh.
