Market Place, Bolton has announced the appointment of Dave Pearman as general manager.

Dave brings over 25 years of comprehensive experience in retail, leisure, office and residential property management to lead the continued development of Bolton town centre’s mixed-use destination.

Spanning over 380,000sq ft in the heart of Bolton town centre, The Market Place combines major retail brands like Primark, H&M, Next and River Island with leisure attractions including The Light cinema, Amazonia adventure park and The Vaults social dining destination.

Dave’s extensive career spans diverse property sectors, including senior roles at Manchester Corn Exchange and Runcorn Shopping Centre, as well as significant experience with mixed leisure, office, residential and standalone retail developments. His career trajectory began within the Sainsbury’s Argos group, where he managed various high-profile projects, including work with eBay, building strong relationships with agents through refurbishments and refits that eventually led him into shopping centre management.

“With all my family working in the NHS, it was naturally assumed I’d follow suit and become a doctor, but I don’t like the sight of blood – so I ended up managing bricks and places instead,” he said. “What I’ve discovered over 25 years is that successful property management is really about placemaking and understanding what communities need.”

Dave emphasises the importance of looking forward rather than backward in his new role, he will focus on ensuring Market Place continues its journey of positive evolution. “Market Place has been on a journey of transformation, and we need to ensure it continues to change for the better,” he explained. “People want nice, pleasant and affordable things to do, and we need to work together collaboratively to deliver that. It’s about understanding the property, understanding who does what, and finding solutions for the town.”

“I want to honour that heritage while creating something that meets what people want to do today.”

His appointment signals Market Place’s commitment to innovative property management and community-focused development as the mixed-use destination continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of Bolton residents and visitors.

Carl Foreman, Tandem Property Asset Management, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dave to the Market Place team. His extensive experience and vision for community-focused placemaking make him the ideal leader to drive the centre’s continued evolution and success.

“We would also like to thank Nicola Shawcroft for all her hard work over the last
year to ensure that Market Place can be handed over to Dave to take forward
    from a solid platform.”
