The Forge Shopping Centre in Parkhead has announced a major new leisure opening with the arrival of Pure Padel.
Set to open in May, the state-of-the-art indoor facility will be Scotland’s biggest padel club, featuring 10 indoor courts, a bespoke cafe and bar, sports lounge and social spaces.
As padel continues to rapidly grow in popularity, Pure Padel’s decision to open at The Forge is said to reflect the centre’s increasing appeal to experience-led operators seeking prominent, accessible locations. Visitors can expect world-class courts, professional coaching and a vibrant environment designed for players of all levels and ages.
Liam Banks-Carr, marketing manager of Pure Padel, said: “We’re super excited to be involved with the growth of The Forge. With six successful clubs already open across the UK, we can’t wait to deliver a world class sporting experience to Glasgow’s East End. Padel is the world’s fastest-growing sport and is a great way to socialise, connect and compete. We look forward to pushing the growth of the sport in Glasgow and working with the local community.”
The arrival of Pure Padel represents a strategic step in The Forge Shopping Centre’s evolution into a multi-purpose destination, combining retail, leisure and services. The new lease was secured by commercial property agents Orinsen, who continue to drive positive leasing activity across the scheme.
Commenting on the announcement, Jodi Robertson, marketing coordinator at The Forge Shopping Centre, said: “We are incredibly excited to welcome Pure Padel to The Forge. This is a fantastic addition to the centre and reflects our ambition to offer high-quality leisure experiences that can be enjoyed by our local community, whether with friends, family or colleagues.”
The Pure Padel letting follows a period of sustained growth at The Forge. In recent months, the centre has welcomed new occupiers, including Wed2B, a leading bridal retailer, and Kally’s Hair, further diversifying the fashion and service mix, while Savers has upsized its store to meet increasing customer demand.
In addition, several long-standing tenants, including Costa, Blue Sky Mobility and The Perfume Shop, have recently committed to the centre through lease renewals.
Anna Hansen, director at Orinsen, added that “The arrival of Pure Padel marks an exciting chapter for The Forge Shopping Centre. Alongside new lettings, upsizes and lease renewals, this deal demonstrates the strong level of occupier demand we are seeing and our ongoing commitment to building a vibrant, resilient destination that meets the needs of both retailers and the local community.”
With further opportunities in the pipeline, The Forge Shopping Centre is set to continue its positive trajectory into 2026, reinforcing its position as a key retail and leisure hub for Parkhead and the wider Glasgow area.
