The new North Solihull Community Diagnostic Centre, a £15m state of the art facility at M Chelmsley Wood was recently opened to the public with a visit from Stephen Kinnock MP, Minister of State (Department of Health & Social Care).

Operated by InHealth, the UK’s largest specialist provider of diagnostic and healthcare solutions, the new centre delivers a wide range of essential diagnostic services, including MRI, CT, ultrasound and X-ray scans, to improve access and reduce waiting times for people across North Solihull and the surrounding areas.

By bringing services closer to where people live, the centre supports earlier diagnoses and alleviates pressure on local hospitals. During his visit, Kinnock met with NHS and InHealth teams to hear how the facility will serve more than 60,000 people in the local community.

Rob Ellis, director at LCP , part of M Core, owner of M Chelmsley Wood, said: “We are proud to support the delivery of such a significant healthcare investment at M Chelmsley Wood. The opening of this £15m Community Diagnostic Centre shows how town centres can be transformed to better serve the needs of local people. It’s a fantastic step forward for both healthcare access and the future of the centre as a true community hub.”

Rakesh Joshi, director at LCP, part of M Core, added: “This development is a perfect example of how repurposing and reimagining retail spaces can create real value for the community. By integrating vital healthcare services into the heart of the town centre, we’re not only improving health outcomes but also strengthening the role of M Chelmsley Wood as a vibrant and essential destination for local people.”

Health and Social Care Minister, Stephen Kinnock, said: “I’m delighted to formally open this cutting-edge Community Diagnostic Centre, which will make a real difference to patients across Solihull and Birmingham. Patients deserve faster diagnoses and shorter waiting times closer to home – and that’s exactly why this government is investing in new centres like this one.

“By bringing vital healthcare services directly into M Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre, we’re making diagnosis and treatment more accessible for everyone. It’s been wonderful to meet patients and staff and see first-hand how this centre is helping cut waiting times and bringing care closer to home.

“This is exactly the kind of innovative, community-focused healthcare that our Plan for Change is delivering – putting patients first and building an NHS fit for the future.”

The North Solihull CDC is part of the wider NHS England initiative to establish up to 160 Community Diagnostic Centres nationwide, aimed at increasing capacity and improving early detection of serious health conditions.
