In celebration of World Book Day 2025 and following the success of the 2024 event, Westgate Oxford has announced that it will be once again hosting its book swap.

On Saturday March 8 from 10am–4pm, guests are invited to take part in a book swap which will be located on the Upper Ground opposite JD Sports. To participate, guests can donate any book in good condition before choosing one from the selection. The book swap will be accepting titles that cover all genres and ages.

The book swap is in collaboration with Oxfordshire County Council’s Westgate Library, which is donating new and unused books to start off the bank of donations. The library will also be hosting a story time on March 8 at 2pm for guests aged 5-10 years old, and will have a colouring table for children to enjoy, with all supplies provided.

In addition, the centre’s staff will be handing out 50 Blackwell’s vouchers for some lucky guests to spend at the Westgate Oxford store.

Brendan Hattam, centre director at Westgate Oxford, commented: “After the success of our World Book Day celebrations in 2024 and due to popular demand, we’re delighted to be hosting our book swap once again.

“We are committed to providing meaningful activities and experiences that make a positive contribution to our community here at Westgate Oxford, and this free event exemplifies that dedication and brings guests together while nurturing a love of reading.”

To add to the fun, the team at Westgate Oxford team will be dressing up as their favourite book characters, with guests also encouraged to take part.

All books that are unclaimed at the end of the book swap will be donated to local schools and charities. Any books that are damaged will be recycled.
