Dover regeneration – next phase gets underway

Bride Hall Real Estate Partners and Octavia Estates are commencing on site with the next phase of development in association with the Port of Dover. Bride Hall has been working with the Port of Dover on the Waterfront masterplan, which is now being incorporated into the Local Plan, and bringing forth the various parcels of port land and property for development as these become available and viable.

The developments entail several phases, including the newly revived Waterfront and Marina Curve/Clocktower Square, existing heritage properties and land, which have the potential to be developed for commercial, residential and various mixed uses in the future to create a vibrant Waterfront.

The latest phase is a highly prominent site on the A20 dual carriageway as you enter Dover, known as Snargate Street and will see the redevelopment of an old warehouse property for a new Costa Coffee drive-thru store, together with an electrical vehicle charging facility operated by Fastned. The development will comprise a 1,800sq ft building for Costa Coffee with 19 car parking spaces and six bays for the Fastned EV fast-charging station.

The scheme will be completed in September. It is another step forward for the Waterfront regeneration, which is attracting national brands to Dover. The redevelopment is providing new high-quality facilities to the local public, travellers and visitors.

As the UK’s busiest international ferry port and a vital gateway for the movement of people and trade, Dover welcomes over 11 million passengers each year.

Jason Ransley, head of property at the Port of Dover said, “Both the Port and Dover as a town have a positive and vibrant future ahead with continued investment in the area from well-known national names, independent brands and expert development partners. The revived Western Docks saw our new marina open last year and expansive new recreational space in the Clock Tower square and Marina Curve. With more plans for expansion in the future, Dover continues to offer exciting new development opportunities for property development. We are delighted to be working with Bride Hall Real Estate Partners and Octavia Estates on the latest regeneration project and look forward to seeing the site progress in the coming months.”

Tom Hurst, UK country manager, Fastned said, “Once up and running, our charging hub at the Port of Dover is perfectly located for electric vehicle drivers getting to and from the continent by car, making it so much easier to drive to France and beyond. And it seamlessly connects with our European charging network that is best rated not just in the UK but in the Netherlands, France and Belgium too. We’re delighted to be working with Bride Hall, Octavia Estates and Costa Coffee to make this charging hub a reality and to bring EV drivers the service they deserve.”
