Braintree Village has announced a new, free event, launching next month. The outlet’s first-ever Street Food Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday September 6-7, with the two-day event promising a weekend of flavour-packed dishes, artisanal produce and music performances.

Local traders will include ROK Kitchen, which started out at Chelmsford market 10 years ago and has gone on to win multiple awards for its Korean street food.

Vendors from further afield will include Churros Garcia, known for bringing churros to London in the 1970s, and Mexican Helado’s award-winning authentic Mexican ice cream, with unique flavours such as hibiscus, Mexican cinnamon, and Café de Olla.

Holistic health company Jinger will also be selling its ginger wellness shots, alongside many other traders offering cuisines from around the globe.

Josef O’Sullivan, centre director at Braintree Village, said: “We’ve found that our experiential events are always met by great excitement by guests, so we’re thrilled to be launching our first-ever Street Food Festival next month.

“With a fantastic range of culinary offerings, alongside music performances, we’re setting the vibe for the perfect relaxed weekend to round off an unforgettable summer at Braintree Village. We’re looking forward to welcoming foodies from across the region to enjoy great cuisine and entertainment over the first weekend in September.”

The event will be open from 11am–7pm on Saturday and 11am–5pm on Sunday and will be located adjacent to the North Car Park. Entry to the festival is free, with food and drink available to purchase.
