Ramadan display returns to Edgware Road

Marble Arch London BID, in partnership with The Portman Estate, has brought back its illuminated crescent moon Ramadan display to Nutford Place. This initiative celebrates the significance of Ramadan for the local community, as thousands gather along Edgware Road each evening to break their fast or come together for Eid al-Fitr.

The bespoke 2.9m light installation is in place for the duration of Ramadan, until Sunday March 30, and is illuminated daily from 6am to 11pm. The walk-through crescent is adorned with warm white LED lights and gold insets and features the message “Ramadan Mubarak”, a symbol of blessing and goodwill.

Marble Arch London BID brought the Ramadan lights to Edgware Road for the first time last year and also funds the annual Christmas lights on Edgware Road. Last year’s display was met with overwhelming positivity, with many visitors pausing to admire the lights, take photographs, share their appreciation on social media and reflect on the significance of Ramadan.

The continued presence of the installation reinforces the importance of recognising Ramadan in public spaces and celebrating the diversity that makes Edgware Road such a vibrant part of London.

To celebrate the return of the Ramadan lights installation, Marble Arch London BID hosted a photocall with councillor Aicha Less, deputy Llader of the council and councillor Md Shamsed Chowdhury, lead member for Edgware Road, alongside members of the local community.

Kay Buxton, chief executive, Marble Arch London BID, said: “It is great to once again work with The Portman Estate to bring the Ramadan lights display to Edgware Road. It became a real focal point last year and in 2025 we expect to see even more families and friends meeting up at the stunning installation.”

Simon Loomes, strategic projects director at The Portman Estate, said: “We are proud to have once again partnered with Marble Arch London BID to bring the Ramadan lights back to Edgware Road. This stunning display not only enhances the vibrant atmosphere of the area but also celebrates the rich cultural diversity that makes our community so special. We so look forward to seeing families and friends come together to create cherished memories during this festive time.”
