Rapidly expanding chicken wing favourite Wingstop UKI is coming to Derby after it agreed a 15-year lease to occupy a 1,700sqft unit at Derbion.
Founded in 1994 in Texas, Wingstop UKI quickly became one of the fastest-growing restaurant chains in the US, before launching in the UK in 2018. Initially concentrating on London outlets, Wingstop UKI has expanded across the country with over 75 locations.
Wingstop UKI’s arrival adds to Derbion’s vibrant F&B scene which includes Bear, Burger & Sauce, German Donar Kebab, Nandos, Pizza Express, Popeyes, Wagamama’s and Zizzi. The success of Derbion’s F&B operators has seen tenants invest a combined £1.2m over the past two years with Zizzi’s and Wagamama all undergoing new refits.
Meanwhile, Chopstix recently re-opened following a significant investment in its space as it looks to enhance the dining experience for its customers.
Derbion’s F&B brands have benefited from the centre’s partnership with the new Vaillant Live performance venue which has helped to increase post-6pm footfall. Meanwhile, the recent opening of Social Sports Society is already bringing in visitors from across the region and the imminent opening of Flo Skatepark is set to grow this even further as Derbion cements itself as the East Midlands’ go-to destination.
Beth McDonald, managing director at Derbion said: “We are pleased to add Wingstop to our thriving F&B line-up, and we believe its offer will really resonate with our younger visitors. Through the additions of innovative and growing F&B brands like Wingstop, alongside the arrival of new leisure activities such as padel and skateboarding, we have created a destination where more people want to come and spend their free time, which in-turn allows our brands to thrive.”
Chris Sherriff, CEO at Wingstop UKI, said: “Wingstop UKI has expanded significantly over the last year, and our new site in Derby will be a crucial continuation of that growth. We’re excited to bring our flavours to a new city and Derbion’s position as a key retail and leisure destination for the East Midlands makes it the perfect home. Thank you to our local community for the continued love and support.”
