JD Gyms has opened at Richmond Gardens Shopping Centre, in Bournemouth.

The award-winning national gym chain has taken over the lease of the former Wilkos and after a three-month build, JD Gyms Bournemouth Central opened its doors last week.

The unit has undergone a massive transformation into an industry-leading fitness space. The 30,000sq ft facility offers cardio and strength equipment, a large free weights section, a dedicated glute zone, a functional Eleiko area and a studio dedicated to Hybrid training.

Richmond Gardens Shopping Centre sits in the heart of Bournemouth town centre and offers a diverse selection of occupiers, attractions and familiar brands including Prevail skate park, Centre VR and others. Not only has the new gym created 20-plus new jobs for the community, but it will also provide residents with a value-for-money alternative to the existing gyms in the area.

The gym benefits from free parking for up to two hours and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Sam Cohen, asset manager at Evolve Estates said: “We are delighted to have been able to introduce JD Gyms. The opening has brought significant investment to the centre and repurposing a large empty space will invigorate the area and provide an excellent alternative to other fitness facilities nearby.”

Amelia Worrall, chief operating officer at The JD Gyms Group, says; “Bournemouth is a fantastic city location for us. We’re excited to be opening a world-class gym unlike anything currently in the area.”
