Westfield Stratford City became an Urban Playground last weekend as JD teamed up with Under Armour to unveil a 10m wide, street-inspired challenge arena. Visitors’ reactions, power, strength and precision were put to the test in the obstacle course in a bid to win a series of prizes.

The arena saw over 600 shoppers take part in the challenges across the Bank Holiday weekend, with top scorers getting a fast track to the locker room where Under Armour gift cards of up to £100 were up for grabs. Challengers who protected their position at the top of the leaderboard snagged the grand prize – an Under Armour Next Athlete Experience Day.

Four different challenges were available for participants. The Reaction Challenge put visitors’ speed to the test with 30 seconds to tap as many targets as possible, a Power Challenge invited guests to jump as high as they can, the Strength Challenge tested visitors’ max grip strength, and finally, the Precision Challenge asked guests to make three kicks into three different targets.

Fitness influencer and social media personality Diren Karal hosted the unique experience within The Gallery at the Westfield Stratford City, alongside a personally curated high energy playlist to draw people in and motivate participants.

The activation follows the grand re-opening of JD’s biggest store to date which showcases the latest collections from the likes of Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Under Armour and The North Face. The newly revamped retail space re-opened its doors last month and boasts over 4,000sq ft of additional space compared to Westfield Stratford City’s previous one. Complete with a cutting-edge digital uplift spanning across two floors, the store promises to deliver a seamless and immersive shopping experience.
