The Brunswick, in Bloomsbury, will be holding its first ever doggie event on Saturday September 2 from 12pm – 4.30pm.

The centre wants to find the dog with the waggiest tale, best paw shaker, best coat, most handsome, best trick and more. Undercover judges will be roaming the centre all day to identify dogs they think are deserving of awards – those that stand out will be handed a rosette. Those lucky enough to receive a rosette will then be invited to the podium at 3.30pm on the day to collect their £40 cash prize and to do a photoshoot.

Dogs are encouraged to attend the event in their very best outfit. Best dressed dogs can then enter the centre’s fashion show competition at 2.30pm by the podium – best dressed pooches will win a £100 cash prize. The centre has also arranged for two caricature artists to be at the event all day to capture visitors’ dogs in their best light, drawings can then be taken home.

Multiple professional dog trainers will be roaming the Brunswick throughout the event to offer helpful tips and advice for dog owners. There will also be demonstrations from a trainer and their dog at 1.30pm and 4pm at the podium.

The Brunswick has arranged for several pop-up shops at the centre to be selling doggie essentials including treats, food, collars, leads and more. Fifteen per cent of everything sold will be passed to Guide Dogs UK. There will also be selfie opportunities in the centre for visitors to enjoy. If visitors upload an image of their pooch on the centre’s branded benches or within their branded peek-a-boo board to social media with the hashtags #dogfriendlylondon and #BrunswickLondon they could win a £100 prize!

The centre has also arranged a pamper station where dogs can get a groom, nail clipping or massage. The centre is also arranging for free goodie doggie bags to be given out on the day. Tasty doggie treats will be given out around the centre. Plus, there will be hydration stations and two doggie bars. Starbucks and Riding House Bloomsbury will also be handing out free puppuccinos and pawseccos to visiting pooches, for every ‘human’ drink purchased.

The event is free to attend, and any charitable donations raised on the day will be given to Guide Dogs UK.

John Themis, marketing manager for the Brunswick said: “We’re one of the few dog friendly leisure and retail destinations in London so we wanted to shout about this and put on an event that celebrates everything that is so special about dogs. We’ve pulled out all the stops to hold an eclectic mix of entertainment that will appeal to everyone. We’re hoping to see dogs dressed in their very best outfits, ready to win some awards. It’s also an opportunity for dog owners to ask some burning questions to our onside trainers. If you love dogs, this is the event for you!”
