    Calendar Club opens for season

Seasonal specialist calendar retailer opens across the country

Specialist calendar retailer Calendar Club, advised by Carter Jonas, Minktex and Barker Proudlove, has opened more than 270 shops and kiosks across Britain in the run up to Christmas.

Whilst the brand reports an increasing amount of Calendar Club’s business is online, its temporary store space in shopping centres and on high streets remain a vital part of its business, as it moves further towards offering a stronger multi-channel customer experience.

David Pike, director of Calendar Club, said: “We have been trading on the high street for over 20 years and it is vital in these more turbulent times that we maintain the health of Calendar Club as a business. The challenge of declining footfall in shopping centres and high streets and the subsequent tougher trading conditions, mean that we need to be very particular about where we take space.  However, we have still been very active in acquiring sites and are confident of a successful year.”

Steve Cullis, associate partner at Carter Jonas said: “Landlords have seen a number of significant players retreating from the High Street in the past few years, and seasonal temporary operators such as Calendar Club offer an attractive alternative as their units are well fitted and drive footfall in the lead up to Christmas. They also occupy what would otherwise be empty units and offer a range of products that complement rather than rival other occupiers.”

Retained agent Carter Jonas has been securing sites in the southern half of the UK from a new Bristol office, alongside Minktex, with Barker Proudlove of Leeds responsible for acquiring units in the northern half.
