MMX Retail will provide property agency services across its portfolio

MMX Retail has been selected by EE to provide property agency services across its national portfolio of stores while retaining its role as the retailer’s lease advisory agent for the south of the UK.

EE, part of the BT Group, is the largest and most advanced digital communications company in Britain and has approximately 600 retail stores.

MMX Retail has previously acted as lease advisor for EE, supporting with lease renewals, lease re-gears, rent reviews and conflict resolutions in both high street and shopping centre locations across the country. In recent months, MMX Retail successfully completed a package of lease renewals for EE’s stores in Maidstone, Dorchester, Eastleigh, Welwyn Garden City, High Wycombe, Caerphilly and Gloucester.

Under the new agreement, MMX Retail will continue to fulfil this role for EE’s southern operations, while Johnson Fellows has been newly appointed to look after its stores in the North.

Nick Symons, agency partner at MMX Retail, said: “EE is an active retailer with a strong brand position and our aim is to help them manage their mature portfolio by providing a mix of experience and fresh thinking solutions. We are committed to delivering a cohesive strategy for EE’s property portfolio that combines a dynamic agency approach with the lease resolution and renewal advice, as we navigate the complex modern retail property market.”

Janet Peto, estates manager at EE, said: “We selected MMX Retail as our national account agency on the back of their proven track record of delivery for our business and their evident experience in all phases of the property cycle. It was important to us to appoint an agent who understands EE’s market position and strategy, as well as the wider retail landscape.”
