Gym franchisor plans 40 additional fitness centres

Retail property consultancy, GCW, is advising énergie Fitness on an ambitious expansion drive. After securing seven new openings in the last three months, GCW is on the search for additional UK sites. Since the beginning of 2019, the fitness and wellbeing brand has opened new clubs in Bridgwater, Skipton, Stockton, Chelmsford, Bognor Regis, Solihull and Hyde.

Energie Fitness operates more than 100 fitness clubs in the UK, Ireland and Eastern Europe, hosting in excess of 120,000 members generating annual turnover of £26m. GCW’s remit is to secure a pipeline of units close to transport hubs in prominent locations with a catchment of at least 25,000 people. The aim is to select buildings ranging between 5,000 to 7,500 sq ft. They will ideally be open plan on one level with a minimum ceiling height of 3 metres. Other criteria include 10 to 20-year leases, D2 planning consent and the potential for 24-hour opening.

GCW director Simon Horner said: “Energie Fitness is a growing brand and one which is attracting significant interest from franchisees. We are working hard to identify sites for further expansion across the UK and have been encouraged by recent openings. We look forward to engaging with landlords to explore further franchise opportunities.”
