Retail destination within Thorpe Park sees strong first year

The Springs, Leeds, has announced five new signings for the retail destination within Thorpe Park.

Developer Scarborough International Properties Limited (SIPL) and its joint venture partner Legal & General have agreed a ten-year lease with popular coffee house brand Caffé Nero which is taking an 1,800 sq ft unit. Mobile network operator EE has also secured a ten-year lease for a 1,115 sq ft retail unit, and The Works is to occupy a 2,500 sq ft unit on a 5-year lease.

Shoe Zone has already opened its new concepts store with a 6,500 sq ft lease over ten years.  And designer furniture store, Lola Rose Interiors, has also committed to it’s first ‘high street’ store with a 2,500 sq ft unit on a one-year lease agreement.

Simon Marshall, joint chief executive of Scarborough International Properties, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming these new retailers to The Springs at Thorpe Park Leeds. It is great to see continued interest from such well-known brands but equally encouraging that the scheme is a viable trading option for local operators.  We had always set out to bring a strong blend of options for visitors to The Springs and to reach 83% occupancy in our first year since launch is quite an achievement in an otherwise challenging marketplace.”
