Footlocker and HMV take 35,000 sq ft at Liverpool One

Liverpool One is to host one of the biggest-ever stores for global athletic footwear and apparel retailer, Footlocker, which is to open a 21,000-sq ft store on South John Street. To accommodate the new store, HMV has relocated to a new 13,000-sq ft unit on South John Street.

The two new brands are the first to be announced in 2018, following the recent launch of JD’s 40,000 sq ft store on Paradise Street in December. Their signing also follows a record year for Liverpool One, with sales up 3 per cent year-on-year in 2017 and footfall exceeding 29m for the first time.

Alison Clegg, director, asset management at Grosvenor Europe, said: “Securing Footlocker is a reflection of our strategy of providing visitors with a highly compelling and relevant offer that is unavailable elsewhere. Along with the new HMV, the new stores will provide on-trend, exciting offers that further strengthen Liverpool One’s great mix of brands.”

Cushman & Wakefield and Metis Real Estate Advisors acted for Liverpool One. Footlocker were represented by Brasier Freeth.
