    Hammerson unlocks Westquay deal

New escape room concept coming to Westquay

Escape room brand Locked In A Room is to open a new site in Hammerson’s Westquay shopping centre in Southampton. The new 4,000 sq ft unit will be the brand’s fifth in the UK, on top of its outlets in London, Bristol, Milton Keynes, and Center Parcs.

Locked In A Room uses stunning props, theming and effects to deliver a completely immersive experience, and also has a number of identical rooms in its locations to allow large groups to compete simultaneously. The new unit in Southampton will be able to accommodate up to 48 people at any one time.

Locked In A Room also attracts a significant number of corporate team building days, supporting surrounding F&B operators, and was this month identified in the Savills and LPF Competitive Socialising research as being one of the UK’s top three operators to watch in the escape room sector.

Westquay already offers a broad and compelling range of leisure experiences such as Showcase Cinema, Hollywood Bowl, and Skate (during the winter months), and the introduction of Locked In A Room will provide an extra draw for visitors looking for a ‘big day out’. The centre also has a complementary mix of food and beverage brands, including Bill’s, Cabana, and All Bar One.

Mark Talbot, director of Locked In A Room, said: “Having successfully opened sites in London, Milton Keynes, Bristol and Center Parcs, Southampton was one of our main targets. Westquay is the perfect location for us, as it’s the region’s major shopping destination, and already has a great range of leisure options. We can’t wait to open our doors.”
