£1m aerial adventure course swings into The Centre Livingston

The Centre, Livingston is set to bring a new £1m aerial adventure course complete with climbing and free-fall activities to The Centre.

The HiRide aerial adventure course, developed by Aerial Adventures, will be positioned 12m off the ground, directly above shoppers. The course will be located above The Elements accessed via the Wintergarden, suspended from the roof and spanning 100m. Adventurers will begin with a 15m zip-line followed by 15 illuminated, challenging and changeable obstacles including a rolling log and swinging bridge.

In addition, a 12m high climbing activity, HiClimb, will be installed in the nearby mezzanine level featuring totem poles, cargo nets, rope ladders and hanging discs in addition to a free-falling activity, HiFall, which lifts people into the air before descending rapidly to the ground.

Aerial Adventures will operate the site which will also include a 600 sq ft soft play area across three levels for children up to 12 years old, with a separate play area for babies and toddlers. Spectators can watch the action from an additional break out area and spectator viewing platform in the Wintergarden next to a 1,000-sq ft 60-seater café.

The new facility is to be launched in phases in June 2018.

Sharon Bloodworth, director of shopping centre asset management for Hines UK, said: “The installation is a clear demonstration of how the leisure and retail market is evolving. No longer are retail assets purely there for shopping, but instead offer a host of activities to help build engagement with customers as well as delivering a diverse range of activities where visitors can now shop, eat, meet and play.”
