Leicester scheme only UK winner in European shopping centre awards
The International Council of Shopping Centers announced the recipients of the 2019 European Shopping Centre Awards at its annual conference in Barcelona, and Hammerson’s Highcross in Leicester picked up a commendation in the Established Centres (Extra large) category.
Established in 1977, the ICSC European Shopping Centre Awards recognise the most outstanding new refurbished and established shopping centres in Europe. Other winners were:
- Refurbishments and/or Expansions (Small/Medium) Commendation: Smart Park in Athens, Greece
- Refurbishments and/or Expansions (Large) Winner: CascaiShopping in Cascais, Portugal, Commendation: pep-Einkaufszentrum in Munich, Germany
- Refurbishments and/or Expansions (Extra Large) Winner Iso Omena in Espoo, Finland
- New Developments (Small/Medium) Winner: Muse in Metz, France
- New Developments (Large) Winner: Adigeo, Verona in Verona, Italy. Commendation: Forum Gdansk in Gdansk, Poland
- Established Centres (Extra Large) Commendation: Highcross in Leicester, UK
- Regeneration Distinction: Catharinasteeg in Leiden, Netherlands
- Resource Distinction: Iso Omena in Espoo, Finland
