Fast-growing convenience brand, MaxiDeals, has signed a deal for its first store in the North East at The Galleries Shopping Centre in Washington.

MaxiDeals is opening a 9,010sq ft shop at units 12-14 on Western Mall, next to Iceland, after agreeing terms with national commercial property and investment company LCP, which manages the centre.

The company, which has nine stores in the West and East Midlands and one in London, sells a wide range of goods, including household, garden, pet, DIY and seasonal products.  It has plans to open 20 stores by the end of 2022.

The arrival of MaxiDeals will create up to 15 full- and part-time jobs. Fit out starts this month with an anticipated opening date of early August

Rakesh Joshi, lettings director of LCP, said: “Bringing MaxiDeals to the centre is great news for shoppers. It’s a well-established convenience brand that already has a strong reputation in the Midlands and is expanding nationally. It will complement the wide range of retailers that are already there.”

Simon Eatough, director of landlord and tenant at LCP, added: “Understanding the local retail market is key to what we do, which is why we are confident MaxiDeals will do really well at The Galleries. We’re looking forward to working with the retailer.”
