Retail Entrepreneur Philip Bier to become president for 2022

Revo has announced that Philip Bier, the entrepreneur responsible for bringing Copenhagen’s Flying Tiger to the UK, has been elected as Revo Junior Vice President, becoming President for 2022.

Philip Bier’s appointment was formally announced at the Revo Annual Dinner and Awards on 4 December 2019.

Bier moved to London in 1985 to study photography and worked as a commercial photographer for 20 years before teaming up with the founder of Tiger in his home country of Denmark to bring the brand out of Scandinavia and introduced Tiger shops to British market in 2006.

Bier sold his 50 per cent share in Tiger Retail Ltd in 2017 having built the chain, over 11 years and now spends his time as an investor, retailer, advisor, and non-exec director for both commercial and charitable organisations.

He will serve as Junior Vice-President under the now current President Ailish Christian-West for 12 months, with JLL’s Tim Vallance becoming president in 2021.

Ed Cooke, chief executive of Revo, said: “Philip has a proven record as a successful and disruptive retailer, who will perfectly complement the retail property development, investment and advisory skills on the Board. With the arrival of Vivienne King, incoming CEO, in the spring, and given her mixed use and housing background, we have a fresh, dynamic and well-balanced Board in place to take Revo into the next phase of its evolution.”

Mark Robinson, 2019 Revo President, commented: “Bringing a successful retail entrepreneur onto the board will give us a fresh perspective and help us on our journey to fully represent the whole of the retail and leisure property and placemaking industry.”
