Metrocentre’s Summer Festival has returned with headline acts including the JD Half Pipe skate show, indoor beach and pop-up musical performances.

Exhibition Square is currently home to the JD Half Pipe Show with displays from Team Extreme, Battalions Breakdance Crew and Flatland BMX Performers. Football freestylers will also be popping up around the centre to amaze shoppers with their ball skills.

Those looking for a real summer experience can pack their buckets and spades and head to The Forum (opposite Next) to enjoy sandcastle building at the pop-up beach. In addition, a range of familiar faces will be roaming the mall, including characters inspired by Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Paw Patrol and the Metrognomes.

Selfie spots and photo ops can be found around the mall, including a rainbow house and a 3D floor, grass sofa, floral swing benches and more. HMV is also bringing music to the malls with a selection of acoustic performances in The Qube.

Helen Atkinson, Metrocentre marketing manager, said: “The festival is about more than having fun together as a community, the event will also be raising money for FareShare North East who help to provide nutritious food to a range of charities and community groups across the North East.  With the cost of living on the rise, the work that this charity does is more important than ever, and we are proud to be supporting their work across our region.”

Shoppers visiting the centre from now until August 14 are encouraged to visit Town Square to be in with a chance of winning a £1,000 Metrocentre Gift Card.
