Montagu Evans has appointed Tim Hayns as a partner and the new head of its retail and leisure sector team.

Hayns joins the partnership following 14 years with M&G Real Estate. During this time, he specialised in UK retail warehousing, leisure parks, Central London and high street retail; managing over 50 retail and leisure parks and 70 high street assets for life, retail and value-add funds and was involved in transactions totalling over £1.3bn. From 2014-2016 he also chaired Accessible Retail.

At Montagu Evans he will head up the partnership’s retail and leisure sector team, advising landlords and working across its investment, planning, advisory and management service lines to strengthen existing and new client relationships across the property lifecycle.

Edward George, partner at Montagu Evans, said: “With retail and leisure having proved their resilience to various challenges in recent years and the continued robust confidence on the investment and occupational side, there is a clear opportunity to grow the breadth of experience and skillset in our team and extend our relationships across both sectors, in and out of town. Tim’s considerable occupier and investor knowledge will add to our strength and depth, and he is a very welcome addition to the team.”

Tim Hayns, partner at Montagu Evans, said: “Having worked with Montagu Evans for many years I’ve seen at first hand the team’s ethos, its market knowledge and its ability to genuinely link across sectors and services to give clients a more strategic, more holistic view. The retail and leisure sector is a very interesting area to focus on right now and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to engage with more landlords, occupiers and advisors over the months ahead.”
