    Zara signs up for Battersea Power Station

    Battersea Power Station hasannounced the first brand to open on Electric Boulevard, London’s newest high street will be high street fashion brand Zara.

    The new store will span 48,800 sq ft and will be the brand’s first central London store situated south of the river and will be situated on Electric Boulevard, an new high street for the capital that will run from the south of the Power Station, between Frank Gehry’s Prospect Place and Foster + Partners’ Battersea Roof Gardens.

    The new high street will offer a mix of bars and restaurants, office space, shops, a park, a community hub, and a new 164 room hotel from art’otel, the brand’s first hotel to open in the UK.

    ZARA is the latest fashion brand to join the line-up following commitments from Ray-Ban, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, The Kooples, Mango, Reiss, Aēsop and Calvin Klein to join the scheme.

    Simon Murphy, chief executive officer at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said: “We are creating a completely new high street for London and to have an internationally renowned high street brand like Zara open a significant store in the UK and the first store south of the river in central London at Battersea Power Station is a testament to the continued desirability of this unique project.

    “With our very own London Underground station and river bus pier, we’re also set to be one of the best-connected shopping, dining and cultural areas in the capital and we look forward to welcoming visitors to Battersea Power Station from September of this year.”

    Sam Cotton, head of leasing at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC), said: “Bringing powerhouse brands such as Zara to Battersea Power Station is very exciting and helps firmly cement us as the new go-to place for shopping in London.”
