Calvin Klein debut success at Dalton Park

Dalton Park, the North East’s largest outlet shopping destination, managed by Global Mutual, has welcomed Calvin Klein, as part of the asset managers’ strategy to diversify the tenant mix.

The arrival of the world-famous fashion powerhouse is a notable step forward in centre’s journey, led by Global Mutual, to expand the brand mix and provide visitors with more choices for designer shopping.

The introduction of Calvin Klein comes after a record-breaking 2022 where notable increases in footfall and spend were recorded. Sales at the outlet rose by 14.5% last year, driven by a subtle shift in spending that saw an increase in customers buying higher ticket items such as luxury branded items and sought-after, one-off investment pieces.

The outlet destination began diversifying its designer offering in 2022, widening its appeal to a broader market, and has continued to see success as shown by an impressive 21% uplift in sales during Calvin Klein’s opening week. Footfall over the opening weekend also showed impressive growth with an increase of 47% on Friday November 3 and 21.6% on Saturday November 4, making Calvin Klein one of Dalton Park’s most successful openings to date.

Richard Kaye, centre manager at Dalton Park said: “The introduction of Calvin Klein to Dalton Park is a huge step forward in our strategy to diversify the brand mix. Given its global status and acclaim, there is no doubt the brand will help enhance and evolve the shopping experience and drive even more customers to the destination, and we’re already seeing impressive numbers. It is great to see designer fashion continue to arrive at Dalton Park and we are looking forward to seeing what the future of our centre holds.”

Nicky Lovell, head of outlets and business development at Global Mutual, said: “The consumer demand for premium fashion continues to grow at a phenomenal rate in the UK, however with value for money being at the forefront for many, it is essential for outlet shopping destinations to offer solutions by increasing their premium offering to align with customer desire. Dalton Park is a prime example of reacting to market shifts and consumers needs in order to be on the front foot within retail. We are delighted that Calvin Klein is part of our journey and cannot wait for it to continue.”

Calvin Klein joins a variety of high-end fashion retailers already at home in Dalton Park including Levi’s and Tommy Hilfiger.
