Two more big names open at the Bridges

Sunderland’s the Bridges has reinforced its commitment to give customers the most varied shopping experience possible with two new, big-name signings; Deichmann and Quiz.

And hot on the heels comes the news that existing retailer Holland and Barratt is about to embark on a full refurbishment next month (October) signalling its commitment to the centre.

Footwear retailer Deichmann has invested £750,000 in creating its store at the Bridges, which also provided six new jobs. While the new Quiz outlet clothing store – which created nine jobs – is the first of its kind, selling discounted lines from as little as £5.

The opening is part of the centre’s active leasing programme, to fill empty space while its new owners, Evolve, work up their longer-term strategy.

The Holland and Barratt refurbishment means the store will be closed from October 4 to 23 – re-opening with a new look in time to make the most of pre-Christmas sales.

Karen Eve, centre director at The Bridges, said: “Retaining and attracting good quality retailers in The Bridges is a long-term strategy.

“I am delighted with the addition of our new stores along with the Holland and Barrett refurbishment, which follows in the footsteps of Pandora, which relocated and delivered a brand-new shop fit earlier this year.

“It reinforces the commitment to continuing to grow a very strong retail offering at the Bridges.”
