The Shires in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, is receiving a positive boost with the addition of three new businesses signing leases and one business confirming its expansion plans.

National health and beauty retailer, Bodycare, has secured 4,262sq ft of ground and first-floor space, while DEBRA UK is preparing to open its latest 1,451sq ft store. Adding to the mix, independent business Habersashery is set to inject some creative flair into the centre, and Greggs will be relocating to a 3,886sq ft premises, effectively doubling its capacity.

The Shires comprises 125,000sq ft of enclosed retail space housing over 50 outlets, including well-known brands such as JD Sports, Superdrug, Holland and Barrett, H Samuel, F Hinds, Poundland, and TUI.

Drawing in 5.4 million visitors annually, the centre’s shoppers and business owners are already reaping the rewards following the acquisition of The Shires in 2023 by LCP, part of M Core. Changes include complimentary first-hour parking for its 1,000 parking spaces and the introduction of Microshops tailored for independent start-up businesses.

LCP asset manager George Watson said: “LCP acquired The Shires last year and has already welcomed a range of new businesses to the shopping centre, from Microshops to larger thriving businesses new to the area. We are striving to provide a range of business opportunities that encourage economic growth to the region whilst also ensuring that our customers enjoy the retail experiences that are important to them.”

National property consultancy Carter Jonas and Leeds-based retail consultancy Rawstron Johnson are the appointed agents for this site.

Stuart Williams, partner, commercial, Carter Jonas South West commented: “Trowbridge is a bustling market town and The Shires continues to offer the principal shopping in the town and plays an integral role at the heart of its community.

“Following its acquisition last year, a well-planned and innovative asset management strategy has been implemented to preserve and improve its standing as a vital regional shopping destination and a great location to attract new occupiers, from startups to household names. By working with The Shires team, we look forward to bringing additional new and exciting occupiers to the centre as it continues to thrive, creating a vibrant and dynamic shopping experience.”
