Marble Arch London Business Improvement District (BID) has been renewed for a third five-year term, securing over £5m of investment dedicated to business growth and placemaking.
Following a 69% voter turnout from its members, 95% voted in favour of renewing the BID, representing 91% by rateable value. The decision recognises the vital contribution the BID has played in positively contributing to the economic, community and neighbourhood of this richly diverse district.
Marble Arch London BID’s 2026-2031 Business Plan reflects the outcomes of conversations it has had with its members, communities and stakeholders from across the BID area and will see a range of new projects and services rolled out that foster an environment in which people can safely do business, shop, stay, relax, work, eat out, socialise, learn and live.
This includes a dedicated outreach service which will support rough sleepers into routes off the street and will ensure businesses have the tools they need to manage the impact of rough sleeping near their premises. A new sustainability exchange will also be launched to enable businesses and partners to showcase their work and share best practices with fellow members. Meanwhile, early-hours audits will be introduced to review waste arrangements and inspection regimes will focus on key routes from transport hubs.
A new partnership between hotels and learning disability charities will be set up to support employment opportunities, and hotel members will also benefit from new corporate networks to showcase the district’s outstanding hospitality sector. Finally, a new inter-agency retail crime action team will support the BID’s high street businesses in the fight against crime.
Kay Buxton, chief executive, Marble Arch London BID, comments: “In creating our future projects and services, we have listened carefully to the issues that matter most to our members and stakeholders. Businesses, residents and organisations have very clear priorities and our business plan for 2026 to 2031 reflects the outcomes of these conversations.
“This is a huge vote of confidence and we are immensely grateful for the continued support of our members, and it is a privilege to provide the collective voice for the district whilst delivering positive change for the future as we enter our second decade of supporting businesses and residents from right across this amazing location.”
Colin Francis CBE, chairman, Marble Arch London BID, added: “This is a wonderful result for the whole district. To see such an impressive turnout demonstrates the level of support the BID has right across the business community, and I am immensely proud of the team for creating such a positive presence. Over the past ten years, they have not only delivered tangible improvements but have also helped foster a genuine sense of community spirit across the district, bringing businesses together with a shared voice and common purpose.
“The BID has become the go-to body for businesses big and small. Their strong relationships with the Council and TfL have laid an impressive groundwork for the next five years of delivery.”
Since its launch in April 2016, Marble Arch London BID has delivered valued, essential services and projects, undertaking ambitious public realm enhancements, improving the safety and quality of its streets, creating a vibrant commercial centre alongside a shopping, dining and leisure experience.
Following its second term renewal in 2021, the past five years has seen the BID provide much-valued, essential services to its members including the popular Marble Arch Street Team, support throughout the pandemic, navigating changes to Government policy, through to delivering public realm schemes at Sussex Gardens and Marylebone Flyover Rain Gardens, alongside an action-packed events calendar which has included a pop-up padel court, cultural walking tours, and even breakdancing demonstrations.
Installations such as The Coronation Crown, Ramadan Lights, Paddington at Connaught Village, and the partnership with the Inside Out Festival, as well as the creation of the Eating Out Guide, Cultural Trail, and Marble Arch Loyalty App have helped to encourage visitors to explore all the district has to offer whilst also providing discounts to those who live and work across Marble Arch and Edgware Road.
