Ellandi has announced its appointment as strategic asset manager for Highcross Shopping Centre in the heart of Leicester.  The 1.1msq ft centre is anchored by John Lewis and has over 150 shops on two levels of malls offering premium fashion, technology, beauty and homewares. There are also more than 30 food and beverage units including Wagamama, Pizza Express, Turtle Bay and Nando’s.  Well-known brands such as Zara, Next, Reiss, H&M and Apple add to the retail offering.

The centre also boasts two multi-storey car parks and a 12-screen Showcase Cinema de Lux.

Originally developed 1991, when it was known as The Shires, the centre was extended and rebranded as Highcross in 2008.  Today, it welcomes an annual footfall of 15.8m.

Mark Hurst, head of asset management at Ellandi, said: “We are delighted to have secured the asset management mandate on Highcross where we will deploy our expertise on another high-profile, destination asset alongside The Broadway, Bradford and Midsummer Place, Milton Keynes. We are looking forward to this exciting project to reinvigorate Highcross, adding new retail brands, modernising the environment and reimagining the F&B offer. We will be committing over £30m of new investment in order to deliver physical enhancements and introduce new brands to the already enviable tenant line up. Since our appointment in May we have already completed eight lease renewals and we expect to be announcing several new lettings shortly.”
