Trafford Centre has announced the opening of its new River Island concept store. The 21,000sq ft store aims to provide a fully integrated shopping experience, combining physical and digital with interactive fitting rooms and self-service tills. The new River Island store is an upsize and relocation for the brand at Trafford Centre, taking the upper floor of the historic TopShop unit.

The shop opened on May 5 with a weekend of celebrations including events and activities for customers, pop-ups from local Manchester businesses and a charity activation supporting Newlife The Charity for Disabled Children. The Trafford Centre store is one of River Island’s new concept stores to rollout and is the first in the North of England.

Gemma Scarfe, digital & marketing director at River Island said: “We are extremely excited to announce River Island’s new store in Trafford Centre. Manchester has been on our radar for some time; it has continued to receive huge investment over the last few years and has cemented its position as a world-class city. We’re delighted to have identified a new, larger retail space that will deliver a fun and refreshing shopping experience to our loyal customers as well as complement the thriving city.”

Russell Loveland, director of UK asset management at Pradera Lateral, asset manager of Trafford Centre said: “River Island is a high street giant and a significant tenant for us here at Trafford Centre. We are delighted that the brand has decided to invest in its presence at the centre with the opening of this impressive new concept store. We look forward to their continued success in Trafford Centre and to continuing to support the brand in its evolution with us.”
