Apple has more than trebled its presence at Touchwood shopping centre, with the opening of a new, enlarged store at the Solihull scheme.
Apple has signed a new lease for a 13,750sq ft store in the Crescent Arcade area of Touchwood – opposite its existing outlet – that incorporates the latest design features and concepts that characterise the brand’s innovative retail approach. The new store opened on Saturday, July 26.
Apple’s decision to significantly expand its presence at Touchwood reflects the success of its operations at the scheme since its store opened its doors September 2007. Touchwood is the West Midlands’ leading retail and leisure destination, with a market-leading occupier line-up and an affluent catchment driving strong trading.
Following its acquisition of Touchwood in 2021, owner The Ardent Companies has focused on diversifying the destination’s tenant mix and customer offer, by introducing new and exciting brands, dining options and leisure operators to expand the visitor base.
Andrew Hilston, managing director at The Ardent Companies, said: “Apple is one of the world’s pre-eminent retailers, and as such its decision to grow its footprint at Touchwood, and invest in the design features and concepts for which it is rightly renowned, represents a huge vote of faith in the scheme as a retail destination. Our strategy is centred on creating a scheme that caters to the diverse requirements of Touchwood’s large and affluent catchment, and the trading performance this approach has delivered is reflected in the demand from premium retailers such as Apple to both grow and establish their presence here. This new store is a fantastic addition to Touchwood’s offer, and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors to the destination.”
Sovereign Centros from CBRE is the asset manager of Touchwood. Cushman & Wakefield and Knight Frank are the retained leasing agents.
