JD Sports has just opened its doors at the Metrocentre. Footwear fanatics filled the store on launch day. One area of the 18,000sq ft North-East flagship store that was extremely busy was the customisation zone, where consumers were able to put their own creative mark on their new purchases for no additional cost.

To celebrate the store opening, Geordie DJ and producer, Jerome Price, got the crowds dancing with an Ibiza-inspired soundtrack. The opening party vibes will continue for one lucky JD fan who will be swapping the North East for Ibiza thanks to a special in-store competition. Shoppers who spend more than £100 in-store from now until Saturday July 9, will be in with a shot at winning flights, a stay at the Ibiza Rocks hotel and tickets to the JD Pool Party in Ibiza for themself and three friends.

Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, senior asset manager for Metrocentre, commented: “It’s fantastic to unveil the new flagship JD Sports store, a truly exceptional fit-out from one of our leading brands. The store is set to be the largest in the region, providing an upgraded destination for streetwear and sports apparel from over 40 of the biggest and best brands around.”
